Ticket_20080322_Wallingford_ACheers and jeers.  Cheers to the Chevrolet Theatre: Free parking!  Woo-Hoo!  The only other free parking on my mini-tour was at Mohegan Sun, also in Connecticut.  Pattern or coincidence?  Maybe parking here is subsidized by the high gas prices, CT prices are over 20 cents higher than New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Rhode Island.  Jeers, too, to the Chevrolet Theatre:  They had the stage extended out over the pit seats on risers all the way back to the front row, which raised the pit wall up about 18 inches.  This additional height, plus the stage speakers, made the front row seats some of the worst in the place.  I had front row at the matinee and second row for the evening show; the evening seat was far better.  Many front row people who had pledged to CPTV were rightfully a little upset.  It was not CW's fault (or CPTV's) but it was unfortunate.

The show was amazing (of course) but I think it was even better than usual because the audience was really pumped.  I believe I'm going to have to give Connecticut a come from behind victory in the best audience category, just beating out last night's New Hampshire crowd.  Many standing ovations, lots of hoots and hollers, and clapping along without being prompted.  Great crowd.

Venue_20080322_WallingfordOne other audience tidbit I didn't mention before happened at Mohegan Sun.  During At the Ceili when Lynn turned down the rich guy the audience let out a collective "Awwww."  I've never heard that before or since.

Máiréad was more relaxed because I don't think she was hurting and boy did she put on a show!  It was great to see her back to near normal.  Her Last Rose of Summer and Shenandoah were, to my ears, absolutely the best that I've heard.  And The Contradiction brought down the house!

As the Brits say, all of the girls were "spot on."  I believe they really get energized by the feedback from a lively audience and there was no shortage of energy tonight.

I got to meet Scott for the first time and SusanZ was there with her mother.  I also met another diehard fan (not a forum member) who shares my name (real name, not forum name, in case that's not obvious.)  It's not an uncommon name but, still, what are the odds?

I'm headed for home tomorrow and a severe case of withdrawal.  I bought Lynn's CD and I'll be listening to that on the way home.  Twelve concerts in 15 days, 3000+ miles, and the best "vacation" I've ever had.  Now I'll just have to live vicariously through other members' reviews (and watch the DVDs) until August.
