Ticket_20090311_WilkesBarreMarch 11, 2009.  MáiréadFest '09.  A day that will live in infamy.  Well, that might be a little too much.  Or maybe not.

Just a few comments on the show.  WOW!  Each show seems to get better and better.  And David played the piano!  I saw him at Radio City and Pittsburgh last year, and he has been at every show I've been to this year, but this is the first time I've seen him perform.  No offense to the normal pianist, but it is a different show with David in it.  All of the girls kept glancing his way and you could see Lisa beaming during The Blessing.  And Máiréad was "in his face" several times when she was on that side of the stage.  I believe I heard him doing a little improvisation, too.  There were a few times that I heard piano where I didn't remember hearing it before.  As Scott has said in his wonderful review, I believe everyone knew we were there and gave a little extra just for us.

Then came the Meet & Greet.  I won't repeat Scott's review, just add a few personal observations.  It was obvious right from the beginning that both Máiréad and Chloë were genuinely glad we were there and Máiréad's heartfelt speech after the group photo really proved it.  I do believe that they love us as much as we love them.

When my turn came, I had some custom shirts made for them to sign and both Máiréad and Chloë went on and on about them.  So much so, in fact, that I didn't have time make an idiot of myself and maintained some semblance of composure.  I also didn't have time to ask either one any of the questions I wanted to!  Oh well, I get to see them again on Friday and soon I'll be an old hand at this M&G thing.  Yeah, right!

The highlight of the entire event, and I mean the entire day not just the M&G, was Kim meeting Chloë.  It was the most amazing thing and I don't think there was a dry eye in the room, including Chloë. It still tears me up just thinking about it.  Kim was so excited and Chloë was just as precious as is humanly possible, maybe more.  They talked about Care bears, Kim told Chloë a story, and they hugged the stuffing out of each other.  Major kudos to Jim, Scott, Rachel, and everyone who made that meeting possible.

After my turn was over, I just hung around in the background and took a bunch of pictures.  I shot without flash, which caused some of the shots to be a little blurry, but there were a surprising number that came out very nice.  So without further ado, here is another perspective of Máiréadfest '09.  Please try not to drool on your screen or keyboard, it's very hard to clean!
