Ticket_20071101_ReadingI treated some friends to tickets and, while they have seen the DVD, this was their first experience seeing them live.  By intermission they were stunned and couldn't stop gushing about how great the show was.  I'm a little miffed at Ticketmaster, since I didn't have seats nearly as close as I would have liked even though I ordered my tickets 30 seconds after they went on sale.  However, being farther back did give me a different perspective on the show since I've been within 3 rows of the stage every other time, and it certainly didn't diminish the enjoyment of the show.  This was also the first time I've seen the show in an arena environment rather than a more traditional concert venue and I was a little unsure how the acoustics would be, but the sound was great.

Lynn seemed a little stiff.  Even the friends I was with remarked about it.   I suspect that maybe the change of venues throws her a little since she had loosened up quite a bit by day 3 in Charlotte.  My best friend's favorite is Orla and he went on and on about how much more beautiful she was in person versus on the DVD.  Even from as far back as I was, it was obvious that Lisa was singing just to Rich at several points.  What a lucky guy!

And then there's Máiréad.  She was on fire as usual and her Last Rose of Summer Instrumental brought me to tears as usual.  I'd go to a concert every night just to hear that.  And to have that followed up by Nella Fantasia is almost too much to bear.  At the Ceili provides some light-hearted relief and time to recover, but then Shenandoah tears me right up again.  What a roller coaster ride!

It was a totally awesome performance, as always.  This was my 6th concert this year and unfortunately my last.  Now I have to wait until Spring.  *Sigh*  Needless to say, my friends want to go again, too.
